Mackinaw Surgery Center Offers Long‐Lasting Pain Block Medication

Provides longer effective period and more efficient technology for administration

Saginaw, Mich. (Jul. 16, 2015) - Mackinaw Surgery Center (MSC) is proud to offer its patients the most efficient and longest‐lasting pain block medication in the community. Providing benefits for longer durations of time that help promote post‐operative stability and a faster recovery time, MSC is a preferred choice in post‐surgical pain relief.

Pain blocks, also known as nerve blocks, are a medication injected into a group of nerve endings in a specific part of the body or organ to relieve pain. While most pain blocks can last for a period of 16 to 24 hours, the shots administered by the experienced anesthesiologists at MSC can last from 24 to 72 hours. They are imperative for helping in post-op recovery and can help speed the healing process by allowing vital signs to be more stable and providing relief from any pain for the patient, especially in larger procedures that require mobility like ruptured hernias or cholecystectomies (gallbladder removal).

Mackinaw Surgery Center administers its pain blocks by utilizing ultrasound technology. As a result, the nerves are easily visible and provide over a 95 percent probability that the pain block will be effective. Old methods of administering the medication didn’t yield as high of a likelihood of effectiveness, leading to potential pain for the patient.

“We’re committed to providing our patients the best in post-operative pain relief,” said Steve Corl, Administrator at Mackinaw Surgery Center. “No matter whether you’re undergoing a minimally invasive procedure or one that’s significantly more complex, staying pain-free is not only important for the patient but for the healing period as well. The nerve blocks we provide to our patients allow them to comfortably recuperate and expedite recovery time.” Much of the efficiency from Mackinaw’s pain blocks can be attributed to its highly-trained anesthesia department, whose sole purpose is providing the highest quality of service to the community and bringing unparalleled value to the center and its patients. With anesthesiologists on staff who are specially trained to administer this medication, individuals having surgery performed at MSC can rest assured that the pain blocks will be properly delivered and will receive all the benefits that this pain relief provides.
